How to Dispose of Various Types of Garbage in Fredericton
(without putting it in the garbage)
Donating things, especially large things (usually they can come pick them up):

- Liberty Lane Housing: 451-2120
- Fredericton Anti-Povery Organization: 458-9102
Batteries:
- Take them to the Hazardous Waste site, at the landfill
- There are also various stores / locations to bring them to, including Harriet Irving Library.
Broken electronics:
- Small broken electronics can be brought to Harriet Irving Library
- Best Metals at 320 Wilsey Road takes them and sometimes give you a bit of money for them (usually not enough to be worth the trip though)
Scratched frying pans:
- Best Metals at 320 Wilsey Road takes them and sometimes give you a bit of money for them
Glasses:
- You may drop them off at Vogue Optical, 169 Main St, corner of Fulton Av, North Side OR, at Headmasters Barbershop on Smythe and Dundonald Sts on the South Side.
Glass:
- Fredericton recycles glass now but you have to bring it to a redemption centre, rather than leaving it at the road in the blue bin. (E.g. Best Metals or Northside Redemption Centre.)
Styrofoam:
- Fredericton recycles styrofoam now but you have to bring it to a redemption centre, rather than leaving it at the road in the blue bin. (E.g. Best Metals or Northside Redemption Centre.)
Plastic:
- Fredericton recycles thin plastic bags now but you have to bring it to a redemption centre, rather than leaving it at the road in the blue bin. Plastic with the recycling symbol can often be left in the blue box, but other plastic has to be brought to a redemption centre. (E.g. Best Metals or Northside Redemption Centre.)
Shoes:
- There's a shoe donation box at The Shoe Company (through Soles4Souls) (9 Riocan Avenue, 506-455-1142)
Food scraps:
- Compost them, or if you can't, give them to me for my compost.
